Hillsong CityCare is the community arm of Hillsong Church in Sydney. They are passionate about seeing people equipped to live in freedom in every area of life. Hillsong CityCare provides chaplains, mentors and support teams for those transitioning from prison into the community and provides assistance to families of inmates. Our goal is to work with other like minded organisations to help break the cycle of crime and make our community a safer place to live. Through our current locations in Blacktown, Campbelltown, and Waterloo we are able to cover all of the Correctional Centres across Sydney.

Team61 (based on Isaiah 61) aims to support, equip and empower others to make a positive contribution in our community.

What we do

  • Restorative Justice

     

    Provide voluntary work placements for Forum Sentencing participants as an alternative to prison
    Provide voluntary work placements for Forum Sentencing participants as an alternative to prison

    Provide monitors for Juvenile Justice Conference outcomes

  • Prison Visits (Trained Prison Fellowship NSW volunteers)

    Inmate visits
    Chapel Services and bible studies

  • Letters of encouragement to inmates
  • Day Release for those who are able to attend church, conferences, and other social activities
  • Caring for families of inmates

    Material needs/food support

    Counselling
    Chaplaincy Support
    Angel Tree (Prison Fellowship Initiative) providing gifts at Christmas for children with a mum or dad in prison

  • Caring for Ex-offenders

    Hamper on day of release
    Mentors and support team offering practical assistance
    Peer support groups
    Pro-social modelling

Our staff and volunteers receive regular supervision and have received training through Prison Fellowship NSW, Alpha in Prisons, CRC workshops and TAFE “Mentoring in the Community”.

CityCare also offers an extensive range of courses that deliver dynamic principles with practical application techniques to equip you for life.

DARE, Drug and Alcohol service is one of a range of community services provided by Hillsong CityCare and currently provides specialist services to people living in Waterloo, Blacktown and the wider community. Their passion is to connect with people who have alcohol or other drug issues, to change mindsets and empower people to gain vision and hope and do life with strength and purpose.

Educate For Life,  Educate for Life courses are for everyone! It doesn’t matter if you’ve been coming to church for years or have never set foot in a church. CityCare have a range of courses designed to help you do life better. They offer great courses on Marriage, Identity, Drug & Alcohol, Anger, Divorce, and much more. Each course runs for a handful of weeks and are run in a small group setting that deliver dynamic principles with practical application techniques.
