UnitingCare NSW.ACT is the peak body for all community services, chaplaincy and the social justice and advocacy activities of the Uniting Church in the New South Wales  and ACT Synod. Its work is inspired and guided by the biblical principles of justice and compassion. UnitingCare NSW.ACT reports to the UnitingCare Board within the New South Wales and ACT Synod and is part of the National network of UnitingCare Australia.

Innovative Aged Care Services

As a service group of UnitingCare NSW.ACT, UnitingCare Ageing is responsible for the Uniting Church’s ministry for older people, particularly those who are disadvantaged, vulnerable and isolated. read on

Family Support

UnitingCare, through local congregations such as Kippax in Canberra and Lower Blue Mountains as well as major agencies such as Wesley Dalmar and UnitingCare Burnside, provides a broad range of services to children, young people and their families across all forms of intervention and support. read on

Homelessness

It is estimated that approximately 750 people “sleep rough” in Sydney every night. Often suffering mental illness or other disabilities, these are people who cannot be guaranteed a warm and secure place to sleep at night and who are forced to wander, usually in search of the next night’s bed, during the day. Many of them attend daily programs provided at UnitingCare services such as the Exodus Foundation in Ashfield, Mission by the Sea in Bondi or at Parramatta Mission, receiving a well balanced meal, acceptance, advice and referral as well as somewhere to shower or wash their clothes.  read on

Housing

UnitingCare NSW.ACT is committed to providing the full spectrum of care and support for the vulnerable and disadvantaged. This includes the provision and development of low cost and affordable housing, often in partnership with the broader Uniting Church and with government. read on

Youth Services

Services which support young people and their families are provided by a range of UnitingCare agencies throughout New South Wales and ACT. They include the ecuemenical Street Works Program based around the Chatswood Transport Interchange as well as drop in and support services such as those provided by UnitingCare Burnside at Macarthur, where up to 50 young people a day — many homeless – attend for advice, referral, counselling, meals or simply “somewhere to hang out”  read on

    Parramatta Mission has been providing services to people who are homeless, facing crisis and living with mental illness for over 40 years. They can now be found on the Community Services page of this website.
